Stitches, Funerals and Blessings

You'll have to forgive me for the lack of posting. The last two weeks have been exciting, fun, and exhausting to say the least. The new baby in and of itself has brought my 'pace' to a resounding halt, throw in a few more life happenings and the blog has officially stopped. My apologies, hopefully I can keep it moving! Just over a week ago my 91 year old Grandfather passed away. He was a good man who unfortunately spent the last 5 years of his life ill. We are happy that he is in heaven with his 2 wives. One of his wives passed away during childbirth and he later remarried my Grandmother. He was a valiant member of the military and participated in all 7 major battles of WWII. He received full military honors at his funeral which I thought was pretty awesome. fune2I thought the most moving part of the ceremony was when the flag was presented to his daughters and Captain Shawn Edwards said, "On behalf of the President of the United States of America we thank you for His service..." It was a very patriotic ceremony. As you can see from the next picture this funeral was not really a sad occasion for us. We were so glad to see family and to have the rare opportunity to have all my siblings together. Here is a picture of my siblings and I. From cutest to oldest. OOPS! I meant from youngest to oldest! siblings

However, the fun did not stop there! At the viewing my 2 year old tripped and hit his head on an end table so we headed over the Instacare to get stitches. The nurses showed him a popsicle and he sat there snug as a bug as they stitched him up. The things we will do for a sweet!photo 5 (5)photo 1 (11) Awesome right?  We finished the weekend off by giving our baby it's blessing. Our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints aka: Mormons) gives their babies a blessing soon after they are born. This is a big occasion in which all the family comes to celebrate the birth of the new little one. It just happened to work out that the funeral was 2 days before the baby blessing so all the family was in town!  Our weekend was full of yard work, house cleaning, and food prep. Everything went off without a hitch and the day was very special for us! us The more kids we get the more impossible family pictures are becoming. Oh wait, this time it was Mitch misbehaving. MITCHELL!

pyperCould our little lady be any more adorable!?! Laura from www.thecornerhouseblog.com made her dress for us. I designed it after my Mother's wedding dress which I absolutely adored. This sweet baby fills us with love and gives us 9 hours of sleep. I have nothing to complain about! The following week we decided to have some special family time (with our little family) and set up a tent in the back yard. The kids were having so much fun, the baby and I were hanging out in the hammock and finally everything was calm and peaceful. We brought an old box T.V. into the tent to watch Cinderella as everyone fell asleep. Yes, we thought we were awesome too. At least we THOUGHT that until our oldest jumped off the mattress and hit her head on the corner of the T.V.. Back to the hospital we went! SERIOUSLY! Could insurance be any more worth it for us?! She ended up getting stitches in the same place as Max, on the same side, and even the same amount.  Please, don't turn us in to child protective services. I swear, each accident was legit. I always wondered if I would know when I should take my kid in for stitches or not. For those parents who have never had a kid get stictches, I assure you, you'll know. Their head is split WIDE open.photo (4)Here they are sharing their 'stitches' love. Twinner scars, twinner craziness. Wish us luck that the following week will be free of emergency rooms and that we can protect our 3rd child from having to get stitches on her head! :)

Sibling Rivalry

Growing up with 5 siblings, the idea of sibling rivalry was always thriving.  If we were headed to the lake it was who could ‘cut’ on a slalom ski the best. If it was outside weeding it was who could pull the longest root. So when my older brother Robb  challenged me to the Spudman Triathlon in Burley Idaho, I knew I could not back down. What’s on the line you ask? First and most importantly of all, PRIDE. Secondly, a 6 pack of glass bottle root beer (We’re Mormon what’d you expect?). So today I thought we would kick off the rivalry with top 5 reasons that we will be beating each other. Please, read this with a hint of sarcasm and sweet sibling rivalry love in mind. :) 5 Reasons Robb will lose:
  1. Robb is old. The only way he can make it through the race is if he takes at least 3 bathroom stops.
  2. His training has been bike based, whereas mine has been running based. Running ALWAYS wins.
  3. His arrogance will be his demise.
  4. Robb will be running on little twig spindles for legs that could snap at any moment.
  5. The race does not provide Ensure which will likely throw him off his regular schedule.
5 Reasons Stacie WILL get beat:
  1. Stacie just had a baby and is in the worst shape of her life right now.
  2. Her arrogance will be her demise.
  3. Because I really, really want to beat her.
  4. My training has been biking based, which is 65% of the race, and her training wheels will slow her down.
  5. Stacie is at a disadvantage because she just found out she can’t use her arm floaties on the swim portion.
rivalry   May the favorite child WIN!

Summer in a Glance

Summer happenings are suddenly all getting blurred into one! agh! I wish I had more time to journal our life! You'll have to get the play by play.

Mitch and Ellie June 2014 livin' it up at the lake. Ellie LOVES the lake like her mom and is constantly trying to jump in!
Little Pyper at 3 months. She's a sweet little girl who loves her momma. She'll cry and cry for everyone else but the moment her mom picks her up she smiles. It's aggravating and heart warming all at the same time. Oh how I love her.
Mitch continues to be a fabulous Dad. I often think about how lucky I am to have him as a husband. He was by far my best catch. I feel like I married him for 10 great things and was totally happy. Now that he's a dad I've realized he has millions of great attributes and is getting more and more each day. I am the luckiest girl alive.  Here he is taking Ellie on her first date. She was so excited.
Seriously this guy kills me. He is such a ham. He is talking more and more each day and always wakes up smiling.  Today when dad asked him to do something he looked at him, raised his finger up and said "1 minute dad, just 1 minute".  He and his big sister are inseparable and for that my heart is happy. They are best buds.  Max is who we have to watch so Pyper does not get hugged to death. He calls her "Hyp" or "Hyppa".  If Pyper is not in the room he's off looking for her saying, "Momma, where's Hyppa?" He is a little heart melter.
Ellie is loving having a little sister. She is constantly wanting to hold her and show her off to her neighborhood friends. Pyp watches cartoons on Ellie's lap and Ellie loves feeding her a bottle.
Here we are at the air show with Mat and Keira just before they had baby Kate. How did Keira escape all my pictures?!  We love the air show. It's hot, a long walk, and the kids usually are crying by the end. Oh wait, I guess I don't really love it. But I will say that we love the pictures from the air show. :)

Stitches- Round 2

Am I really posting this? The same week we got Max's stitches out we headed to the ER for a second time to get more stitches in but this time for Ellie! The crazy thing is that is was also the head, also on the left side and just above the eyebrow!

Mitch and I decided to have a backyard campout so we set up the tent and set out the pads and sleeping bags. We also brought out an old square T.V./VCR combo. Ellie was so stoked to be out in a tent and was bouncing off the wall. In one excited bounce she jumped off the mattress and slipped at the last moment sending her head first into the corner of the TV. It was disgusting. I could see right down to the white pourous looking surface. Maybe the skull (i'd have to look in the old Anatomy book to tell you exactly what I was looking at).  Of course, it was nearly ten o clock so every doctor office was closed except one.  Mitch took her in while I laid Max and Pyper down. No sooner did I close my eyes and they were back (only it was 4 hours later, I was just really tired). She like Max, got 3 stitches.
Tired Max and I watching the stars while Mitch and El had to instacare
A miserable and very tired Ellie post stitches

 Twinner scars!
Best buds. I called the doctor and you know what he said? No more Dorius kids jumpin on the beds!  I know lame. but I'm a mom so I can say lame and embarrassing things! :)
